山口・防府豪雨から半年 重源教えの湯
山口県で昨年夏、１７人の犠牲者を出した豪雨災害から２１日で丸半年。東大寺再建に尽くした僧・重源ゆかりの阿弥陀寺（同県防府市）境内にあり、土石流のため使えなくなっていた「石風呂」が住民らのボランティア活動で半年ぶりに復旧し、２月７日から再開されることになった。
石風呂は、石で組んだ室（むろ）の中で松葉などを燃やし、薬草を敷き詰めるなどして入る蒸し風呂。
阿弥陀寺は、重源が平安末期から鎌倉初期にかけ、東大寺再建のため周防国（山口県）で木材を調達した際に創建。同時に、労役に携わった人たちの病気治療や休養のため一帯に石風呂を造り、「浴湯念仏」の教えを広めたという。
境内の石風呂は地元有志が昭和５６年に復元。大小の石を積み、赤土で塗り固めてあり、住民らが月１回石風呂をたき、希望者に入浴の機会を提供していた。
しかし、昨年７月２１日に山口県を襲った集中豪雨で、石風呂は約１メートルの高さまで土砂に覆われ、隣接する休憩所も半壊して使用不能に。付近の国重文「湯屋」も、柱や壁が損傷した。
こうした中、８月に入り、檀家（だんか）や有志らが土砂を取り除く活動を始め、１１月には重機を入れて岩石などを除去。さらに地元の電気店や大工も協力して休憩所を修理、復旧にこぎつけた。
林寛孝住職（６５）は「みなさんのおかげで再開することができ、感謝しています」と話している。

震える声「やってません」＝「自白」撤回のテープ再生
栃木県足利市で1990年に4歳女児が殺害された足利事件で、無罪が確定的となっている菅家利和さん（63）の再審第4回公判は、21日午後も宇都宮地裁（佐藤正信裁判長）で続いた。菅家さんが検察官の調べに虚偽の「自白」を撤回し、震えた声で否認に転じた生々しい様子が録音テープで再生された。午後の公判では、菅家さんが足利事件の一審公判で「自白」から否認に転じる約2週間前の92年12月7日、森川大司元検事が菅家さんを取り調べた際の録音テープなど2本が再生された。
再生テープによると、足利事件と別の女児殺害事件2件（未解決）について、「本当に君がやったのかそこを聞きたい」と森川元検事から問われ、菅家さんは一転して「やってません」と震える声で答え、3事件を否認。県警が逮捕前日に任意同行した時の出来事を中心に10分ほど詳細に語った後、「警察で夜遅くまで調べられまして。全然認めてくれないんですよ。このままやってないと言うと、殴るけるとかされるんじゃないかと」と声を詰まらせた。
元検事が事件への関与を再度確認すると、「全然かかわっていません。絶対言えます」と返答。「裁判所では事件は間違いないと認めたでしょ。なぜなの」と聞movie postersかれると、「警察の人が裁判の時はちゃんと話すんだぞと言うから」「警察でも拘置所でも同じような所と考えてた」と涙声で説明した。
